Chow Down
One of Beach Haven’s most treasured traditions returns with Chowderfest Weekend 2012. Summer may be coming to an end, but you can still satisfy your seasonal cravings with a full weekend of food, music, and kid’s entertainment. Shop ‘til you drop at the Merchant Mart on Saturday for all of the best year-end discounts. Then, enjoy an all-you-can-eat array of chowder at the Jersey Shore’s staple Chowder Cook Off on Sunday. Sept. 29 and 30, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Taylor Avenue ball field, Ninth St. and Taylor Ave., Beach Haven, (609) 294-7211, VisitLBIRegion.com, $20 general admission to Chowder Cook Off, $10 for kids ages 4-12

To the Moon
Climb the 199 steps of Cape May’s Lighthouse for a closer look at the stars at the Lighthouse Full Moon Climb. The Cape May Point State Park’s lighthouse opens its doors for this rare event, when the light of the moon replaces the typical Jersey Shore neon. Sept. 29, 8-10 p.m. at Cape May Point State Park, Lower Township, Cape May, (609) 884-5404, CapeMayMAC.org, $7 for adults, $3 for kids ages 3-12

Luck of the Irish
Catch the luck of the Irish during the 6th Annual Irish Festival Weekend. Throw on a bit of green and relax with a weekend full of Irish hospitality. Irish market and food vendors will fill you up almost as much as the beer that will be flowing from the sponsored deck bar. While there, rock out to local Irish bands like Blackthorn and count down the months until St. Patrick’s Day. Sept. 21-23 on JFK Blvd. between Landis and Central Ave., Sea Isle City, (609) 263-3756, LaCosta-SeaIsle.com, free
