Cravings: Serious Sliders

by Editorial Staff--South Jersey Magazine

5 Spot: Serious Sliders

We have to admit, when the slider trend took off a couple years ago, we weren’t exactly on board with the petite patties. But now, we like the variety they can bring, making them easy to share or keep to yourself without feeling overly full. This month, we took a closer look at some mouthwatering offerings in the tri-county area and found plenty more than just ground beef being placed between the buns.

The Kibitz Room: Sliders
This NYC-style deli is known for their larger-than-life sandwiches, but they also dial it back with their petite sliders on small rye bread discs that cover everything from tuna, brisket, turkey, pastrami and corned beef specials. 100 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill, (856) 428-7878

Redstone Grill: Breakfast Sliders
Sliders get an early wake-up call with eggs, sausage and cheese covered in a hollandaise sauce. 500 Route 73 S., The Promenade at Sagemore, Marlton, (856) 396-0332

Annata Wine Bar: Filet Mignon Cheesesteak Sliders
Tender cuts of beef are topped with lettuce, tomato, crispy onions and your choice between aged cheddar or gorgonzola cheeses. 216 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton, (609) 704-9797

Marlene Mangia Bene: Meatball Sliders
Served at lunchtime only, this trio consists of one beef stuffed with mozzarella, one pork and one veal selection all cloaked in rich, homemade gravy. 43 S. Broad St., Woodbury, (856) 848-8488

Throwbacks Bar & Grill: Asian Chicken Sliders
There’s a whole slider menu here with everything from a French dip version to a chicken parm offering, but we love the grilled teriyaki chicken with Asian cabbage piled atop. 2929 Route 130 S., Delran, (856) 461-2419

Fast Food

• The Cheesecake Factory is behind Grand Luxe Café, a more upscale eatery slated for a midsummer debut at the Cherry Hill Mall.

• Concertgoers will enjoy some new food amenities at the Susquehanna Bank Center this summer. A mix of local food trucks will pump out a variety of cuisine and Philadelphia sports bar chain Chickie’s and Pete’s will have an outpost as well.

• Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant will open its 10th location and second in South Jersey (the first being in Maple Shade) at the Voorhees Town Center this winter.

• Keep your eyes out for a unique homecoming in Haddonfield. Former high school basketball standout Brian Zoubek, who won a NCAA championship while a member of the Duke Blue Devils, is slated to open up a pastry shop in town.
